The Carlton College of Sport welcomes highly anticipated AFLW prospect Isabelle Khoury to the Football Development Program. The Eastern Rangers inside midfielder spoke on her personal interests as well as why she decided to join the Football Development Program.

From the South-Eastern suburbs Isabelle, better known as ‘Izzy’, has grown up as a mad Carlton supporter all her life.

Khoury explained how she thinks the Carlton College of Sport Football Development Program will allow her to develop her football skills and combine her first year of study. When the opportunity presented itself to join the program, she had no hesitation about applying.

Izzy also mentioned the fact that being located at IKON Park will allow her to see some of her favourite players train and experience what it’s like to work and play within the sporting industry.

Discussing the future and the potential career within the sporting industry, Khoury emphasised her desire to succeed in the sport.

‘I’m always working on my ground skills and kicking. As well as this I have started specifically working on my running patterns and speed work. Working at the best of my ability and developing my skills is so important, I feel it can help me achieve my goal of playing AFLW,’ she said.

With recent games representing Hawthorn VFLW side, Khoury explained her main goal is to get drafted into the AFLW. Training almost all days within the week, Khoury’s passion for the sport is undeniable.

When questioned about her match day rituals, Izzy responded with a common answer, eating pasta the night before, but more interestingly touched on her unique ritual.

‘I always need to have my arms and my legs shaved before a game, if I don’t I feel like I won’t play as well,’ said Khoury.

Being a Carlton supporter, Izzy spoke on her dream to be drafted Blues.

‘Growing up as a mad Carlton supporter, it would be a dream to be drafted to the women’s team, but obviously any club that picks me up would be a great achievement’.
