NAOMI IS THE youngest of the Carlton College of Sport graduates joining the team at the Carlton Football Club.

She was offered the role as Retail Service Officer within the Consumer Business department.

Naomi completed the Diploma of Sport Coaching and Development in 2021 at the Carlton College of Sport. Naomi had a number of opportunities to complete placements on the field, assisting with AFL training, VFL/AFLW games and working behind the scenes at AFL games.

How did you find studying at the Carlton College of Sport?

“It was extremely exciting. There were so many opportunities to work within the industry and was amazing to work within the elite sporting environment”.

What was your best experience or opportunity whilst studying at the College?

“I did a placement at a Carlton AFL game, working alongside the fan engagement team. It was amazing getting to interact and see the fans and see the behind-the-scenes layout of the game and being able to be involved in the fan activation for the day”.

Although she was a younger student in her cohort, Naomi was one that showed her maturity right from the start of classes.

She took up all opportunities and networking within the industry allowed for her to build her connections to help kickstart her career in sport.

Do you think the Carlton College of sport is a stepping-stone into a career in sport?

“It absolutely is a great stepping-stone to start your career in sport. You are learning in an elite sporting environment, so you can build connections with people in all different areas which definitely excels the start of your sporting career”.

Did the Carlton College of Sport teach you transferable industry skills and skills that will help you with your role?

“Absolutely. With all the different placements that are offered, it exposes you to so many areas of sport. In my case, the skills needed to work within customer service, retail and membership departments were all taught during my year at Carlton College.”
