Meet Chelsea, one of our recent Carlton College of Sport graduates!

Written by Chelsea Srinivasan.

Why did you choose to study at the Carlton College of Sport?

Being a few years out of high school, I still didn’t know what I wanted to do. The sporting industry has always been something I’ve been interested in however, I didn’t really know what I needed to do to get into the field/industry.

I am forever thankful that my sister got an email in regard to the Carlton College of Sport and suggested it to me. After reading about it on the website and speaking to the course co-ordinators, I soon decided that CCoS was right up my alley!

I’m definitely someone who learns best by being in the environment and getting to see how things work firsthand, which is exactly what the Carlton College of Sport offered.

What was the best thing about studying at CCoS?

The best thing about studying at CCoS for me was being able to learn in such an awesome environment! Not many people can say that they get to study at Carlton Football Club itself. Being surrounded by professionals who work in the industry motivated me every day and kept me striving to reach my goals.

What was your favourite placement at CCoS?

My favourite placement was being able to attend and help out at the 2019 best and fairest. We spent the afternoon with the events team, helping set up the venue for the big night ahead. Once the evening commenced, we assisted the team with making sure everything ran smoothly, while also being lucky enough to experience majority of the event! Defiantly an experience I will never forget.

What are your plans after you graduate?

I was fortunate enough to gain employment by Carlton Football Club in the last few months of my studies as a Retail Assistant & Membership Services Officer. My plans for the near future is to continue my roles at the club while also furthering my education by studying a Bachelor of Sports Management online.

What is your dream job in sport?

I have many interests when it comes to working in sport, especially after doing placements with various different departments – I find it hard to pinpoint just one dream job! I would love to work in an admin role at an elite sporting club, especially within a fan engagement or communications role.
